Minecraft is Free to play this weekend

September 18, 2010 4 comments

Notch has been having some server issues with the influx of new players lately with all of the publicity. Plus he’s been busy getting his company going so things have been quite hectic around there. Anyways, Notch has opened up Minecraft this weekend, meaning it’s free to play. (the “indev” version) So enjoy it now!

50% Altitude and LOVE free weekend!

September 5, 2010 1 comment

Tsk tsk, I haven’t been keeping up with my news posts about video game sales. I’ve seen quite a few lately, even bought a couple, but it didn’t cross my mind to post! Oh well, here are two awesome sales that will make up for it.

Altitude is on sale for 50% off over at steam. Altitude has been on sale quite a few times before so if you don’t have it by now, buy it. You will not regret it. Shooting down enemy airplanes on a two 2d battle field couldn’t get any better.

A very artsy game called LOVE is now free for this weekend. I came across it quite awhile ago but was turned off by the payment method. Now I was able to give it a try but unfortunately its not my cup of tea. That doesn’t mean you wont’ like it! LOVE has an excellent concept and the tools available to you are fun to play with, making it a sort of co-op settlement game. Worth a shot, it is a free weekend after all.

You want indie, you got indie.

Glorious Train Wrecks has just released a pack of 529 indie games. Need I say more? Just make sure you have a bit torrent program for there is no direct link, just a torrent file.

Exit Path

Exit Path is an action plat-former from Armor Games. Dodge spinning saw blades and falling axes in order to get the best, or if your playing multi-player, beat the other players. There are plenty of unlock-able features for your character as well as achievements. It makes me think of the darker side of N+

PopCap Games is offering Peggle Nights for free in exchange for you to submit your e-mail to their newsletter. Its a great deal, normally a $20 dollar game AND it has great reviews.  Oh and it’s supposed to be for a friend…but they don’t seem to mind if you snag the copy for your self.

I really should be doing my English paper, but I couldn’t pass up posting this offer. I was quite skeptical about this at first, but it appears to be legit! is giving away a MASSIVE bundle of RPG games for only…20 dollars. Yes. Over a HUNDRED games for only, 20 dollars. Not only that, your money goes to the Haiti relief effort. This game is packed full of all sorts of indie RPG games. I didn’t go through the entire list, but the few that I looked at were quite interesting. Check out the link for details.

[Edit]: Just to be clear, they are RPG paper and pencil games like D&D.

Featured Website: game give away of the day

January 9, 2010 Leave a comment

No sorry, Lonely Pixel isn’t giving away a free game, but I know a site that does.

GameGiveAwayOfTheDay, well, gives away games. Not everyday though, but at least once a week. The games listed aren’t usually something of great quality, but every once in awhile their will be a must-have title. For example, I was able to pick up copies of Larva Mortus and Archibald, which i just realized are from the same developer! But Larva Mortus made it to the Steam platform while Archibald is one of those hidden gems. But none the less, GameGiveAwayOfTheDay is worth being added to you RSS feeds and also the parent site, GiveawayOfTheDay which gives away software.
